Annemarie Colbin, PhD, CHES
President


Annemarie
is a health educator and an award-winning writer, consultant and lecturer. Founder of The Natural Gourmet Cookery School/Institute for Food and Health in New York, Annemarie is also the author of Food and Our Bones: The Natural Way To Prevent Osteoporosis, and Food and Healing. Her column Food and Your Health has appeared in New York Spirit magazine (formerly Free Spirit) since 1988. Her articles have been published in the US, England and Spain.

Annemarie has a private practice in wellness consultations, teaches and lectures widely, and is generally recognized as an expert in the uses of food for health.


Allen Flagg, Vice President
Allen joined the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), when he lived in California, and joined FIONS in 1996 when he returned to New York. He grew up in Nebraska, moved to New York in 1940, and has been a New Yorker ever since, except for a three-year stint in the Marines.

Allen studies consciousness, dreams, physics, language, communications, and epistemology, and is president of the New York Society for General Semantics. He has published numerous articles on dreams, paradox, creativity, and psychosomatic and mind/body interactions. For fun he enjoys running in Central Park.


Emily Squires, Secretary
An award-winning director, documentary film maker, and an accomplished writer, Emily has won five Emmys for directing Sesame Street, and the acclaimed 1997 television special, Elmo Saves Christmas which received an Emmy for Best Children's Special. In addition to Sesame Street, Emily has directed Jim Henson's Muppets, worked for the Disney Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and directed Between the Lions for PBS.

She has produced and directed several documentaries including Visions of Perfect Worlds, an interview with the Dalai Lama; The Art of Being Human, and A Portrait of Frederick Franck for which she won a Cine Golden Eagle, After Hiroshima, and Five Masters of Meditation.

Emily has also written the for the daytime series The Guiding Light, Search For Tomorrow, Secret Storm and As The World Turns. She has received three Writers Guild nominations and an award for Outstanding Writing in Daytime Serials. Emily and her husband, Leonard Belzer, have co-authored a book, Spiritual Places In and Around New York City.




Victoria Boyt Kaufman, Treasurer


Vicki
has combined careers as a business consultant and environmentalist and holds a dual Masters degree in Earth & Environmental Science and Journalism from Columbia University.

As a mayoral appointee, Vicki created and chaired an Environmental Commission, served on the Board of Trustees of the State Association of Environmental Commissions, and participated in a business leaders' group discussion on Nafta with Cabinet officials.


Gayle Everhart
Gayle's
noetic interests range from New Physics to the study of dreams, to depth psychology. Her current passion is the role of nutrition in relationship to personal, global right-action and sustainable agriculture. Gayle is the Chair of the FIONS Organization Effectiveness Committee, Co-Chair of the Membership Committee, and until recently, Chair of the Volunteer Committee.

Gayle is a management consultant whose clients include corporations, small businesses, and not-for-profit organizations.


John Cheshire
John is a documentary film producer and an avid student of consciousness studies. A member since 1999, John came to FIONS through his friendship with founder Sandra Shepard Wright and former board member Sandra Martin. "The idea of exploring human consciousness has always excited me , says John." I think it is important to support organizations that are making the world a better place".

In his work as a filmmaker, John specializes in films that delve into the origins of man. He helped to write and produce the television special, "The Mystery of the Sphinx" which showed solid evidence for a culture as yet unknown that existed before our own. He also works on unusual films that relate to FIONS' work as an important part of his life’s mission. "Being a member has helped me remember that there are others out there who think the way I do and to not despair. That is what keeps me", he adds. John is the facilitator of FIONS’ Film Series.



Jane Hughes Gignoux


A FIONS board member since 1995, Jane was President of FIONS from 1996 to 2000. She was a charter member of the IONS Stewardship Council for five years and for two years served on the board of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. She is a co-founder of the IONS Member Council.

She is a founding member of the Steering Committee for the Coalition for OneVoice www.coalitionforonevoice.org and participates in the NYC Undoing Racism Alliance.

A native New Yorker with a background in theatre, Jane is the author of Some Folk Say: Stories of Life, Death, and Beyond, a collection of stories, myths and poems from cultures around the world and throughout time, published by Foulketale Publishing (www.lifedeathbeyond.com). She offers workshops and presentations around the US and elsewhere to help people change their relationship to death and, therefore, life.

She is a Certified Celebrant, offering civil ceremonies to commemorate transitions such as baby namings, coming of age, weddings, memorials, and other family and community rites of passage. Jane has four children and five grandchildren.



Debbie Lawrence, PhD


Debbie Lawrence, PhD
is a psychologist with a longstanding interest in consciousness. She teaches psychology at Barnard College and the New School University. She is engaged in on-going research on how we make sense of things, and consults with corporations on how people use technologies. She currently works as a psychotherapist-in-training.

Debbie joined FIONS in 1994 and has found its programs and members a never-ending source of wisdom and a fertile ground for inquiry. She organizes the monthly forum, Making Meaning, and has served on the FIONS board since 1998, and as President since 2002.
